St Martins School is seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic part-time Midday Supervisor to join their dedicated team. This vital role ensures that lunchtimes are a safe, enjoyable, and positive part of the school day for all. St Martins School and Horizons 6th Form is an 11-19 Special School in Derby, with a mixed student profile of children and young people with a range of learning difficulties and additional complex needs; including Autism, Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder, Social Emotional and Mental Health, as well as other Learning Disabilities and Difficulties.

St Martins shares a site with Noel-Baker Academy in Alvaston, whilst Horizons 6th Form is based in Derby city centre. Our Supported Internship programme for Year 14 students is based at the Royal Derby Hospital. We received our fourth consecutive 'Outstanding' OFSTED in October 2024 and we continue to aspire to the highest standards for students and our staff team.

As a Midday Supervisor, you will:

  • Support and supervise pupils in the dining hall, playground, and classrooms as needed.
  • Encourage positive play and social interaction.
  • Assist pupils with eating, where required.
  • Promote independence, safety, and wellbeing.
  • Work closely with teaching and support staff to ensure children’s needs are met.

 Applicants must: 

  • Be patient, caring, and empathetic, with a genuine commitment to supporting young people with diverse needs. 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both verbal and non-verbal, to engage effectively with students and colleagues. 
  • Show creativity and enthusiasm in planning and leading inclusive activities that encourage participation and friendship-building. 
  • Have the ability to work as part of a team, contributing positively to a collaborative and supportive environment. 
  • Model positive behaviour and respect, promoting a culture of kindness and inclusion. 
  • Be willing and able to provide basic first aid when required.

Actual Salary: £3,557-£3,613

Working hours: 6.25 hours per week, 38 weeks (Term Time only) - Monday-Friday 12.15pm-1.30pm
